Los Angeles Lakers guard Russell Westbrook is now the latest Lakers player to be sidelined with an injury as Westbrook exited Monday night’s game against the Charlotte Hornets at halftime due to a foot issue.
Westbrook scored 2 points in 11 minutes played during the Lakers 121-115 victory over the Hornets. Westbrook did not return to the game after halftime due to what the Lakers indicated as “left foot soreness.”
“I just got the report that he got foot soreness at halftime,” said Lakers head coach Darvin Ham. “As a staff, we just decided to shut him down.”
Westbrook had been dealing with the issue for some time, missing two games in mid-December for the same issue, and listed on the injury report a few times during the season but playing through any pain or discomfort.
