The Eastern Conference Champion Boston Celtics are looking to continue to beef up their roster as they look to return to the NBA Finals, and come out with a championship this time, next season as they engaged the Brooklyn Nets in trade discussions for Kevin Durant.
Durant requested a trade earlier this summer and since then there has been minimal movement on the Durant trade front. Durant listed the Phoenix Suns as his top preferred destination with the Miami Heat also mentioned.
But the Celtics are apparently interested as well, and have reportedly offered the Nets a trade package of Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, and a draft pick for Durant. However, the Nets want even more from Boston if they are going to part with the future Hall of Famer.
According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the Nets are requested that the trade package include defensive player of the year Marcus Smart as well.
It’s unclear if the Celtics will honor their request, but it seems that the Durant trade talks are heating up and we could see some sort of resolution soon.
