The Los Angeles Rams took note of the flurry of big deal some of the league’s best wide receivers were able to land during the offseason, and decided to ensure that their own star receiver was well taken care of.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Rams have signed star wide receiver Cooper Kupp to a three-year, $80 million contract extension that includes $75 million guaranteed and is worth $110 million over the five years of the deal.
The deal marks the highest amount of guaranteed money ever given to an NFL wide receiver.
Kupp led the league with 145 catches for 1,947 yards and 16 touchdowns during the 2021 season and was a big part of the Rams Super Bowl championship title run. Kupp became the fourth player since the 1970 merger to lead the league in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.
“Really glad to be coming back to Los Angeles and be here in the long haul,” Kupp said during a video tweeted out by the Rams official Twitter page. “This is going to be an incredible ride. Can’t wait to get back at it.”
