New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick believes that rookie quarterback Mac Jones has a big opportunity in front of him with starter Cam Newton currently in COVID-19 protocol, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss.
Belichick responded to a reporter who asked by a reporter if Jones now has a big opportunity with Newton out by saying, “It is”. Belichick has consistently said Newton is the Patriots starting quarterback for the upcoming season.
“Our entire team has opportunities every day, all the way through the week, against the Giants and in the game” Belichick added. “I hope we can all take advantage of those opportunities.”
Newton’s poor play last season will have eyes on how Jones performs in the lead role with Newton out.
