The ongoing and long-standing uncertain status of Philadelphia 76ers Jahlil Okafor may finally be getting some clarity.
Okafor who has been linked to teams like the Portland Trail Blazers and the New Orleans Pelicans over the past several weeks may be headed to the Windy City.
According to ESPN.com’s Marc Stein, Okafor, who is a Chicago native, prefers to go play for the Chicago Bulls. This helps make a trade between Chicago and Philly that much more agreeable as the Bulls can rest assured that Okafor wants to be in Chicago and is from the area.
The Bulls are in “active” trade talks with the 76ers and it is likely that a trade that would send Okafor to Chicago is close to completion. The two teams were working on a trade well into Wednesday night, per Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical
The Sixers had a deal in the works with the Pelicans for Okafor, per Sam Amick of USA Today, but that deal fell apart.
The Indiana Pacers recently emerged as an interested team per ESPN.com.
As the trade deadline inches closer it appears Okafor will be headed to Chicago when it is all said and done.
