The NBA champion Boston Celtics are ensuring that their franchise cornerstone sticks around for many years to come and, hopefully, many more titles as they signed Jayson Tatum to a five-year, $314 million contract, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Tatum, 26, lands a new contract that includes both a player option and a trade kicker, and is coming off an impressive performance during the NBA Finals where he averaged 22.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 7.2 assists to help Boston defeat the Dallas Mavericks for their 18th NBA championship which surpasses the Los Angeles Lakers for the most NBA titles in history.
Tatum is a five-time All-Star and four-time All-NBA selection, including being named to the All-NBA first team the past three seasons.
Tatum averaged 26.9 points per game, 8.1 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game for the Celtics last season.
