Phoenix Suns superstar forward Kevin Durant suffered a left ankle sprain during warmups on Wednesday night, which would have been his home debut for the Suns, and will be out for the next few weeks, the team announced this week.
According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Durant’s return will be based on how quickly he can rehab the injury and he will be re-evaluated in two weeks his left ankle sprain and return based on rehab progress, adding that swelling has gone down in the injured ankle.
The Suns and Durant expect him to return action shortly after being re-evaluated.
Charania added: “The Suns and Durant are hopeful of progress during the re-evaluation window that allows for the 13-time All-Star to return to action shortly after two weeks, sources said. Good news for KD and Phoenix following scary fall in warmups.”
Durant has been a major factor in the short time he has played since being traded to the Suns and making his debut, and he has averaged 26.7 points, 3.7 assists, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game over his 3 games with Phoenix.
