NFL veteran defensive end Robert Ayers has officially announced his retirement, putting an end to his nine-year career.
Ayers made the announcement on Tuesday, via a Facebook post on his page.
Ayers played for the Denver Broncos, New York Giants, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers throughout his career, and although he was never nominated to a Pro Bowl, he had been a solid contributor throughout his career.
Ayers, 33, was a former 2009 first round draft pick out of Tennessee, and did not play last season despite working out for several teams throughout the year.
Ayers wraps up his career with 34.5 sacks.
