After the Dallas Cowboys put the New England Patriots away in dominant fashion on Sunday, Cowboys veteran quarterback Dak Prescott was vocally critical on how the Patriots were utilizing his former teammate, running back Ezekiel Elliott.
Elliott, who now plays with the Patriots after signing a contract with them during the offseason, spent his entire career in Dallas, and many seasons alongside Prescott and a big part of the Cowboys offense.
During the Patriots loss on Sunday, Elliott only made six carries for 16 yards. It was an odd development given that Elliott was facing his old team and was coming off one of his best performance of the season when he rushed for 80 yards on 16 carries in Week 3.
“They need to play him more, but hey, who am I?” Prescott said, according to the Boston Globe’s Ben Volin.
The Patriots certainly need to change things up as they continue to see their regular season go further down the drain, but it remains to be seen if they feel that relying more on Elliott, a veteran back whose best years are behind him, is the solution to help get their season back on track.
