The Los Angeles Rams are looking to clear a pathway to bring in a new quarterback, and are having “exploratory talks” with a number of teams regarding current quarterback Jared Goff, according to The Athletic’s Jourdan Rodrigue.
Moving Goff would be a challenge for the Rams, because doing so would leave $22.2 million in dead money if they were able to work out a trade. However, if the Rams were to wait to move Goff after June 1st, the Rams would be left with $6.8 million in dead money for 2021 and $15.4 million in dead money in 2022.
Goff struggled in 2020 and has seemed to regress since the Rams made it to the Super Bowl a few seasons back.
This season Goff threw for a career-low 20 touchdowns, and in 2019 tossed a career-high 16 interceptions.
