The New England Patriots and legendary head coach Bill Belichick are set to discuss the future of the head coach wo is rumored to be parting ways with the organization this offseason.
According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, Belichick, 71, will meet with Patriots owner Robert Kraft to discuss the future for both the organization, and it’s long-time head coach.
“As far as the future goes, I’ll sit down with [owner] Robert [Kraft], as I do every year at some point, at the end of the season and we’ll talk about things as we always do,” Belichick said to NFL journalists following the Patriots loss to the New York Jets on Sunday. “But that’s really all I have to say about that right now because there isn’t anything else to talk about.”
The Patriots finished with a 4-13 record and were eliminated from the playoffs back on December 3rd which was the earliest they had been eliminated from playoff contention since 2000, the first season Belichick was at the helm.
“It was a disappointing year for all of us — players, coaches, staff, the entire organization. Not anything that any of us are in any way content with, but it is what it is,” Belichick said, specifying that he would answer questions about the team’s snowy finale.
“I enjoy coaching, I still like coaching the team,” he cotinued. “I like preparing the team, game-planning, coaching on Sundays. But the results weren’t good and none of us are happy with those.”
