The Cincinnati Bengals have officially placed the franchise tag on wide receiver Tee Higgins, who was slated to hit free agency this spring and be in high demand following the completion of the final year of his rookie contract, according to ESPN.
The deadline for teams to use the franchise or transition tag is March 5th, but the Bengals didn’t wait.
Higgins, 25, had 42 catches for 656 yards and five touchdowns in 12 games last season for the Bengals despite battling hamstring and ribs injuries throughout last season.
