The Minnesota Vikings have officially signed star running back Dalvin Cook to a five-year, $62.5 million contract extension, according to an official team announcement issued on Saturday.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Cook’s new deal includes a $15.5 signing bonus and $28.2 million in guaranteed money, which ties him with Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry for the fifth-highest paid running back in the NFL with an annual average salary of $12.5 million.
Cook had been pushing for a contract extension all year, and the two sides were able to push a deal through just before the Vikings’ season opener against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
