It wasn’t supposed to go this way. The San Diego Padres were riding high after their acquisition of slugger Juan Soto ahead of the trade deadline last week and were looking to prove how much they improved against the Los Angeles Dodgers during their weekend series.
But things got ugly. And uglier.
The Padres were embarrassed at the hands of the Dodgers, swept during their three-game series over the weekend, extending the Padres losing stream to four games.
Soto discussed it, while at the same time sending a message to the San Francisco Giants, whom they play next.
Forget about it,” Soto said, according to MLB.com’s AJ Cassavell. “We start another series tomorrow, and we’re going to be ready for that.”
“Don’t be surprised if you see all these guys going off next series,” Soto added.
The Padres are 1-4 since landing Soto in a series of trades last week with their lone winning coming over the Colorado Rockies during Soto’s debut. They may need some medical SEO to try and find a fix to their problems fast.
