The Chicago Bears are hiring Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus as their next head coach, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Eberflus, 51, was also in the running for the head coaching job with the Jacksonville Jaguars, but will now join Bears’ new general manager Ryan Poles in revamping a team that went 6-11 last season under former coach Matt Nagy.
Eberflus has spent the past four seasons running the defense in Indy, and his units have finished in the Top 10 in scoring 3 times, and have tied for 9th in 2021 with 21.5 points per game.
