Two players for the Cleveland Browns were reportedly robbed at gunpoint by six masked men, as detailed in a police report, according to ESPN’s Jake Trotter.
While police redacted the names of the victims in the incident in the report, a Browns team source cited in ESPN’s report confirmed that the two players were Browns veteran cornerback Greg Newsome II and defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey.
Neither player was harmed during the incident, according to police.
The incident occurred as the two players left a Cleveland nightclub early Monday morning as they were arriving at Newsome’s truck in a nearby parking lot. As they go to his truck six masked men jumped out of an unknown car and robbed them at gunpoint at 3:30 a.m. ET Monday, taking jewelry along with Newsome’s truck.
Police are still searching for the truck.
Newsome took to sports social media on Monday night to say – “It’s a cruel world we live in.”
