The Atlanta Hawks finally found their new head coach, officially signing former Utah Jazz head coach Quin Snyder to a five-year contract, although terms of his contract were not disclosed, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Snyder, 56, was the main target for the Hawks after the firing of Nate McMillan last week, and is expected to make his debut on Tuesday as the Hawks are set to host the Washington Wizards at home.
Per the report, over the last few days Snyder has been engaged with Hawks general manager Landry Fields, assistant general manager Kyle Korver and team owner Tony Ressler on a number of philosophical, team-building and staff budgetary issues, and Snyder will enter the Hawks organization with a significant voice in player personnel matters.
Snyder will be tasked with fixing a number of pronounced chemistry and leadership issues in the Hawks locker room.
The Hawks promoted assistant Joe Prunty to interim coach following the dismissal of McMillan, winning his first two games as coach. Prunty and the rest of the Hawks’ coaching staff are expected to be retained with Snyder for the remainder of the season.
