The Seattle Seahawks and quarterback Geno Smith have agreed to terms on a three year, $105 million deal that will keep the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year and Pro Bowler in Seattle, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler and Adam Schefter.
Per the report, Smith’s new deal is for three years and $105 million, and includes $52 million in the first year. Smith’s status in Seattle had been the talk of sports social media since the conclusion of their season.
Smith, 32, was a breakout player last season in Seattle, unexpectedly earning a Pro Bowl nod and the league’s Comeback Player of the Year award following several seasons as a backup, and taking over for Russel Wilson following his trade to the Denver Broncos.
Smith led the league in completion percentage (69.8%), finished sixth in Total QBR (60.8) and finished fourth in touchdown passes (30) for the Seahawks last season, starting all 17 games during the regular season.
Smith lead the Seahawks to an unexpected playoff berth where they lost to the San Francisco 49ers in the wild card playoffs.
