The Boston Celtics and veteran guard Marcus Smart have agreed on a four-year, $77 million contract extension, the maximum allowable off his $14.3 million salary for the 2021-2022 season, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Smart, 27, has spent his entire career with Boston, developing into a franchise building block who has collected NBA All-Defensive fist team honors twice during his career. The Celtics drafted Smart with the 6th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.
Smart averaged career highs in points (13.1), assists (5.7), blocks (0.5) and minutes (32.9) for Boston last season.
