Boston Celtics’ head coach Brad Stevens provided an exciting update regarding the knee of Celtics’ superstar guard Kemba Walker that will give fans plenty of hope as the NBA re-start tips off.
“His knee is the strongest it’s been since he got here in September,” Stevens said, during an interview on 98.5 The Sports Hub’s “Zolak & Bertrand”, via NBC Sports Boston. “He has worked exceptionally hard over the last couple of weeks with a great training plan from our training staff.
The update on Walker’s ailing knee is promising, given how important the 29-year old point guard is to the Celtics’ success in the upcoming restart of the NBA season.
For his part, Stevens has a plan in place to ease Walker into the action this season.
“(He) will play limited minutes in the first few games with the idea of building him up — hopefully with no setbacks — to the point where he can play normal minutes in playoff games” Stevens said. “Everything has been part of a plan. It’s trying to be more proactive than reactive.”
Walker was averaging 21.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.9 assists for Boston this season.
