Milwaukee Bucks guard Eric Bledsoe will miss the start of the 2019-2020 regular season after suffering a small fracture of his rib, according to ESPN’s Eric Woodyard.
Per the report, Bledsoe could miss up to three weeks after he suffered the injury during the Bucks 133-99 victory over the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night in preseason action.
Bledsoe averaged 15.9 points and 5.5 assists last season for the Bucks, his second season with the team. Bledsoe signed a four-year, $70 million contract extension back in May.
Bledsoe’s injury was initially diagnosed as a strained oblique muscle.
“It feels like it’s not that severe, but I’m sure Troy and those guys will give me an update,” Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer said, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “Just talking to Bled (it seemed positive) — I don’t know if you can trust Bled – Troy will be the truth-teller.”
With Bledsoe sidelined, the Bucks will now turn to veteran point guard George Hill, who is expected to help take Bledsoe’s place.
