Indianapolis Colts superstar linebacker Darius Leonard is a critical piece of the Colts defense and heavily factors into their success on the field, and his health will be important as the Colts gear up for the 2022 season.
Leonard underwent back surgery, leaving many fans wondering if he will be ready when the 2022 regular season kicks off.
“Darius Leonard says he’s not putting a timetable on it, but he’s feeling good. He had two discs in back sitting on nerves that caused problems down the left leg” according to Colts’ inside reporter, Joel A. Erickson.
“Leonard says the ankle was frustrating last year because they didn’t have answers at the time. The back issue finally gave him answers.”
“The ankle, Leonard says, was “calcification” that got cleaned up last summer. The back didn’t hurt, so it came as a shock when they found the nerve issues.”
It’s a sliver of hope, and at least some sort of update, on Leonard’s recovery this summer. Leonard’s status will likely come into focus a bit more as the regular season inches closer.
