Utah Jazz superstar guard Donovan Mitchell is said to be “unsettled, unnerved and wondering what it means for the franchise’s future” over the departure of long-time head coach Quin Snyder, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wonarowski.
Snyder, who had been with the Jazz for eight seasons and is the second-winningest coach in franchise history behind Jerry Sloan, had a strong relationship with Mitchell and center Rudy Gobert, but decided to step away following the season.
Snyder had a .623 winning percentage over the past six seasons, which is third best in the NBA.
Mitchell has four years and $135 million left on his contract, which also includes a player option for the final season of his contract. Rumors have circulated that the Jazz will be making some big changes to their roster this offseason, with reports indicating that they may trade Gobert, or that even Mitchell could be had for the right price.
The Jazz are expected to conduct a search for their next head coach immediately.
