The Dallas Cowboys have signed right tackle La’el Collins to a five-year contract extension, according to ESPN’s Todd Archer.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones officially confirmed the new deal for Collins during an appearance on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, saying that the two sides had “come to terms” on a deal.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Collins will sign a five-year, $50 million extension, with $35 million guaranteed, which is the highest guarantee given to a right tackle in NFL history.
With the extension, the Cowboys created $5.7 million in cap space.
Collins’ extension comes off the heels of the Cowboys contract extension for linebacker Jaylon Smith, whom they inked to a new five-year $64 million extension that included $35.3 million guaranteed.
The Cowboys have now locked up the key components of their offensive line with Tyron Smith, Travis Frederick, and Zack Martin all under multi-year deals.
