The Cleveland Browns are gearing up for their Divisional Round playoff tilt with the Kansas City Chiefs, and Browns’ quarterback Baker Mayfield is showing nothing but respect for Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and appreciates the high bar that Mahomes’ play sets for others.
“He has gotten me so far in the league, so I have to see what I can do,” Mayfield said, according to NFL.com’s Kevin Patra.
Mayfield and Mahomes have battled each other in the college ranks, when Mayfield was at Oklahoma and Mahomes was at Texas Tech, so Mayfield has seen the immense talent Mahomes possesses continue to the NFL level.
“His arm strength is unbelievable,” Mayfield continued. “Just the different arm angles and things he is able to do — I know people talk about his no-look passes and all of that — but to be able to change his arm angle, you can see why he was such an incredible athlete in baseball and basketball, as well. He’s just able to do things that a lot of quarterbacks can’t do.”
If their past battles are any indication, Mayfield and Mahomes should provide plenty of fireworks this weekend.
