The New York Giants will now know if quarterback Daniel Jones is the answer at quarterback, as the addition of former Detroit Lions superstar wide receiver Kenny Golladay add another offensive weapon to the G-Men attack.
The Giants landed Golladay by inking him to a four-year, $72 million contract, and now Jones will have a true #1 one receiver to target starting in the 2021 season, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.
Golladay, 27, was limited to only 5 games last season for Detroit, but that didn’t stop him from being one of the most sought after free agent receivers on the market, and his new contract illustrates just that. Golladay will land $40 million guaranteed, and his new deal could reach $76 million with incentives and bonuses.
The Giants are banking on Golladay returning to the form he showed during the 2019 season, when he earned a Pro Bowl nod and posted 65 receptions, 1,190 yards receiving, and 11 touchdowns for the Lions.
Now, Jones will have to show that he is the franchise quarterback the Giants were envisioning when they drafted him at the top part of the first round of the NFL Draft a few years ago.
