The Green Bay Packers are already hard at work to create some much needed cap space as they enter a crucial offseason for the organization, creating close to $11 million in cap space by restructuring the contract of star defensive tackle Kenny Clark.
According to ESPN’s Field Yates, the Packers were able to convert $13.65 million of Clark’s 2022 salary into a signing bonus, in addition to restructuring his deal to include two void years in 2025 and 2026.
Per the report: “The Packers have created $10.892M in 2022 cap space by restructuring the contract of NT Kenny Clark, per source. Green Bay converted $13.615 of Clark’s 2022 compensation into a signing bonus and added two void years to his deal.”
The Packers currently lead the NFL with $28.615 million in dead cap, and will have to create cap to attempt to bring back quarterback Aaron Rodgers and star wide receiver DaVante Adams, who is likely going to be franchise tagged instead of hitting the free agent market this offseason.
