The Indianapolis Colts have made some key decisions as they try to trim their roster to the 53-man roster limit that is due today.
According to ESPN’s Stephen Holder, the Colts will be keeping quarterback Sam Ehlinger on their final roster, slotting him as the backup to starting quarterback Matt Ryan, and behind backup Nick Foles.
The news isn’t as good for veteran running back Phillip Lindsay who was officially released by the team, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.
Lindsay has had trouble staying on a team roster for the long term despite clocking in a Pro Bowl season while with the Denver Broncos, where he poured in 1,037 yards and scored 9 touchdowns. Lindsay followed it up in 2019 with a 1,000-year campaign, but failed to stay with the Broncos, and bounced around to the Houston Texans and Miami Dolphins last season.
