Chicago Bears linebacker Roquan Smith officially requested a trade earlier this summer after there was no traction on a contract extension with the organization, but is now focusing on the Bears regular season instead of finding a new home.
“I’m not focused on that, if I’m being completely honest,” Smith said, according to Pro Football Talk’s David Smith. “My focus is on making this year the best year I can and then go from there. I don’t want to look forward too much to the future or anything like that. I’m just focused on now, having the best year I can with my teammates and playing the game I love. That’s what means the most to me.”
Smith is a key part of the Bears defense and if he can put in another strong season the demand for him will simply go up.
