New Orleans Pelicans superstar forward Zion Williamson is hoping that the upcoming NBA season will get his promising career back on track, and that he can stay healthy for the upstart Pelican team.
Williamson is said to be in the best shape of his career, and he says that the league will see his growth and maturity on and off the court, while also discussing his struggles as he dealt with his myriad of injuries to start his NBA career.
“I was in dark places at time because I couldn’t play basketball,” Williamson said, during an interview with Sports Illustrated. “I could only do limited rehab things. And then just seeing how the world reacted? It took a lot. It did a lot on my spirit.”
“They’re going to see that I’ve matured off the court and on the court,” Williamson continued. “And they’re also gonna see that my game has evolved. I’m gonna show the world things that I’ve had in my arsenal that I didn’t show before.
